Take a whaaaaaaaat?!

Ooops I got a little behind on this so I'll do my best to recap the week so far!

Monday: My first day of class!!!!!!!! I will just say that it's ridiculously hard, my is teacher pretty cool but it's his first time teaching American students and he seems really flustered all the time. I think he feels just as much pressure to teach us all of what we need to know as we do trying to learn it.  After 5 hours of trying to learn the alphabet, numbers, questions such as: What's your name? How old are you? What are you studying? and a few others along with all of the ways to answer them we headed to a differnet building for the school so that they could have a welcoming ceremony. First of all, it wasn't really a ceremony it was just all of the different kids from all of the programs in a room and someone, who's name I can't pronounce, said some words of encouragement and tried to tell us about the school but unfortunately I couldn't understand most of what he was saying. Second, it was absolutely freezing in the room we were in, so I was really happy when it was over. But the room was pretty cool so I stuck around for a few minutes to take just a couple of pictures.

This was at the front of the room. The statue is of King Charles IV, it seems like he is everywhere in Prague, but he founded the school and did a lot of other things for the city so I suppose it's fitting.

I just really liked the ceiling, it looked like a wave.

After the welcome speech we got a small tour of the cellars of the school, they have all of their documents down there. My group was really hungry because we had had class all day and know real lunch so we kind of skipped out but not before I got a chance to get a few pictures!

After a long day of Czech and touring the school a bunch of people in our ISA group decided to go out so we met up with some people. To get there we had to take 2 trams and a bus, I don't think any of us had ever actually taken a public bus so it was interesting and the bus stop was in a pretty sketchy part of town. Naturally we had to take some pictures to document our first ride on one!

It wasn't the best part of town.

The bus ride wasn't bad and we all made it!!! It was really fun getting to know the people in our group more!

Tuesday: Second day of Czech and it didn't get any easier! Once again our teacher flew through everything, it was super frustrating because it's really hard to learn and retain all the information when you're going slow but to learn so fast and know that you have a quiz the next day just adds so much pressure.

After class we had to go with our ISA staff memebers to register at the forgein police. I guess the Czech Republic changes their rules on whether people have to register in person or not so it's really frustrating for the ISA people, they had to take all 30ish of us to the building, which they had to make special arrangments to have the offices stay open for us, and wait until all of us were done. It was kind of a waste because when we went in to see the woman regirstering us she didn't even speak to us, she just put a bunch of stamps in our passport (I got extra stamps because she messed up) and made some copies of documents and then shooed us out of her office.

Even though Cassi and I were uber tired after regirstering we decided to go to the ATM in New Town, get a sausage from the vendor, and walk to Old Town. On our way to Old Town we stopped into a few shops and we found a really good gelato place! I'm sure we will be going back! After that we headed towards a main street to catch a tram back to our apartment.

The street that we caught our tram on, the castle is in the background and the building to the right is an opera house.
